Steel Screened Casing Pipes

Steel slotted casings (or “Perforated Steel Pipes”) are the heavy-duty alternative, used when the borehole environment is too physically demanding for plastic.
Steel screens are typically made from carbon steel or stainless steel. The openings are either “torch-cut” (less precise), “mill-slotted,” or “bridge-slotted” (where the metal is punched out to create a louvre-like opening). Stainless steel versions are the gold standard for high-performance industrial wells.

Description

Key Features
Structural Rigidity: Essential for very deep wells where the weight of the water column and the pressure of the earth would crush uPVC.

Bridge-Slot Capability: Often available with “Bridge Slots,” which provide superior mechanical strength and prevent the gravel pack from entering the well.

Impact Resistance: Can survive the vibration and impact of heavy-duty drilling tools or “well surging” (a cleaning process using high-pressure air or water).

Longevity (Stainless Only): While carbon steel slots can rust and clog, Stainless Steel 304/316 slotted casings offer the highest possible durability in the most aggressive soil conditions.
